The awards ceremony was held Thursday, December 2 at the Gallo-Roman Museum in Lyon. The trophy was presented by Henri Nijdam, Chairman and President of the Nouvel Economiste and Michel Mercier, Senator and President of the Rhône General Council. For over ten years running, the Nouvel Economiste has selected a "manager of the year". The editorial staff's selection places particular emphasis on regional development, which has led them to select a certain number of leaders in each of the main regions of France for the last several years: a manager, an entrepreneur, an investor, a researcher, as well as a manager of local development. On receiving the prize, Jean-Michel Aulas declared : "This trophy crowns a 2004 marked by the setting up of a European corporate group with international aspirations, the leader in its field in France. This constitutes strong encouragement to succeed, along with employees and the connection between Cegid and CCMX."
Created in 1983, the Cegid group is now one of the leading French developers of management software for small and medium-sized businesses. The recent acquisition of CCMX once again makes the group a major European player with more than 2,000 employees, €220 million in pro forma annual sales and more than 80,000 client sites. Cegid offers information system management solutions designed for every field and business size :
In addition, the new group's objective is to become the leader in terms of ASP products, a market where CCMX already has significant expertise. Cegid has installations abroad, with offices in New York and Madrid, and distribution agreements in Italy and elsewhere.
