Description
This first debate addresses the topic of performance management. Despite some progress over the years, the traditional model of annual or bi-annual performance reviews remains prevalent in many organizations. Human Resources (HR) departments are often tasked with overseeing the performance management process, even though line managers, who have closer relationships with their team members, might be better suited for this role. The debate considers whether line managers should take full ownership of performance management, given their direct insights into team dynamics, or if a collaborative approach involving both HR and managers would be more effective.
The central statement for discussion is: “Managers, not HR, should have full ownership of the performance management process.”
