Salomon puts innovation at the heart with Cegid Retail

Salomon and Cegid Retail began establishing a partnership over ten years ago. Their relationship, based on innovation for the benefit of customers and employees, is further strengthened with the deployment of the Cegid Retail mPos solution in stores.

Founded in 1947 in the French Alps, Salomon, an outdoor specialist, is well-known for its ski production. However, the brand has successfully diversified its offerings with hiking and running shoes, suitable for both city and mountain environments. This brand image renewal and repositioning have led to an increase in foot traffic in stores, along with an expansion of retail locations in France and across Europe. “It was necessary to respond to the demand for accommodating more people while also providing a high-quality, optimal, and personalised customer service,” emphasises Michaël Amsellem, Global Retail Operations Manager at Salomon.

This need is even more critical in Paris, a key showcase for attracting both local and tourist clientele and accelerating the strategy for internationalisation.

A smooth and optimal customer experience

To guide its customers from A to Z while offering a premium experience, the brand has chosen Cegid Retail mobility POS solution, also integrating the tax exemption aspect with the connector provided for this purpose.

“The solution also allows us to recognise our loyalty programme members more easily and quickly. We can now manage multiple customers at once, providing them with an innovative and personalised experience,” says Michaël Ansellem, Global Retail Operations Manager.

After starting a test from mid-February to mid-April in the Lyon store, the brand had already observed that 44% of transactions were made through this application during this period.

After reflecting and compiling this experience report, we realised that implementing an individualised account as we did in the Marais store allowed us to increase the conversion rate on Tap to Pay. In the ecosystem created with Cegid mPos, Salomon is able to easily and quickly recognise its members, their buying journey, what they have previously purchased, in which store, and on which sales channel. “We will be able to make targeted proposals. When a customer selected a size 42 for her husband during her last purchase, for example, we suggest the same size to her. All this data helps us significantly,” says Michaël Amsellem.
