Cloud POS Leader and Mountain-Sports Retailer to Feature Live Demonstrations of Retail and Point of Sale Platform, Which Unlocks the Power of the Connected Shopping Experience

NEW YORK, NY, USA (December 28, 2016) – Cegid, a leading player in the digital transformation of companies and a global provider of cloud services and software, announced today that it will give live demonstrations of its one-of-a-kind connected experience with sports equipment expert Salomon at the NRF Retail’s Big Show 2017. The event will take place January 15-17 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City, booth #2979.

Salomon: Unifying the Digital and Physical World

“With increasingly mobile and digital lives, shoppers are researching online and purchasing offline, accessing online reviews, and turning to social networks to shop on their terms,” says Dan Friedman, COO, Cegid North America. “For this reason, retailers are mapping out every engagement and commerce touchpoint to ensure the customer is the focus. We’re very excited to show retailers attending the NRF how Salomon is using technology to adapt to changing shopping habits.”

Following a “day in the life” approach, booth visitors will go on a journey that starts from the comfort of their home and continues on to their preferred store, interacting along the way with click and collect solutions, tablet-enabled sales associates, and other in-store technologies. Cegid will demonstrate how retailers can allow shoppers buy online and pickup in-store, turning stores into points of service and fulfillment hubs, mobile-enabling store associates, as well as providing customers with unique experiences.

POS as We Know It Is a Thing of the Past

“Retailers are saying goodbye to the point-of-sale as we know it,” adds Friedman. “Point-of-service is the new mandate. It’s all about the customer – what they want and when they want it. By leveraging a single, centralized and real-time platform, we’re enabling retailers to support a unified experience between channels, and incorporating modern ordering and fulfillment options. In this way, consumers get a consistent brand experience no matter how they shop with the retailer.”

Cegid’s platform, Yourcegid Retail Y2, brings the power and flexibility of cloud and mobility into the brick and mortar environment. With easy deployment, configurable design and modular architecture, the solution is a comprehensive retail and store management software for both head office and retail locations. Today, more than 1,000 retailers with 32,000 stores and 57,000 POS in over 75 countries rely on Cegid’s solutions to gain a holistic view of their shoppers, products and retail chain.

A Look at the Future With Next-Gen Retail POS System

At this year’s conference, Cegid will also let retailers test-drive its in-store unified commerce platform named “Shopping,” which is still in the making. This new innovation highlights the company’s advancements in the POS world. The in-store omnichannel platform brings together cataloging (endless aisle), clienteling (in-store CRM) and shopping (POS) into a single application. Thanks to the Universal Windows Platform, the exact same software runs on multiple devices, including fixed POS and tablets. “Shopping” will officially be released at Cegid Connections 17, the company’s global user conference, in Budapest, Hungary, April 5-7.

Innovative Technology Partners for a More Connected Commerce Experience

In addition to Cegid product demonstrations, part of the booth will be dedicated to the Cegid Innovation Store featuring state of the art capabilities from leading technology partners, including:

  • Adyen, the payments company powering global commerce, will showcase its integrated solution that accepts payments on Cegid’s POS and mPOS applications
  • Retailers with an aesthetic edge will be able to explore the contemporary designs of AURES’ POS hardware terminals.
  • In addition to the HP RP9 Retail System, Cegid will also be running Yourcegid Retail on HP’s MX10 and MX12 mPOS hardware.
  • Invue provides loss prevention security solutions for retail high theft merchandise on display including tablets, smartphones & cameras.
  • MomoMi will elevate the in-store shopping experience by allowing visitors to virtually try on Salomon’s clothes and share them with family and friends on social media.
  • Nedap‘s powerful RFID solution will be on display to demonstrate how better inventory accuracy facilitates omnichannel execution such as click and collect.
  • Primo1D has patented a way to discretely incorporate tiny RFID tags into a thread that can be sewn or woven into any fabric, thus pioneering in the connected clothing industry.
