It’s no small feat to align 75,000 employees in 60 different countries with unified competency libraries and development programs, but that’s just what Bombardier Transportation did with the talent management solution.
Bombardier Transportation is a global leader in rail technology and delivers innovative products and services that set new standards in sustainable mobility. In order to allow Bombardier Transportation to globally manage all their HR-related processes effectively, for employees worldwide, they’d need to access the same system. The solution would allow them to centralize their global training management needs and move away from ad-hoc, sometimes file-based systems, to achieve company-wide adoption.
Training Management and other HR management related processes had historically been supported by local systems or, in some instances, simply not supported at all by IT. Bombardier Transportation was looking for an integrated solution that could combine all their management tools for the development of their talent resources into one cohesive application. The system would also need to be robust enough to power the global needs of their entire workforce. Bombardier Transportation’s project team assessed various alternatives and concluded that the company required a solution that provides specific tools in various languages and would offer integration with their legacy ERP systems. They needed a simple and effective solution that could be quickly implemented at a reasonable cost. In addition, they needed a consultative partner who would support them throughout the entire implementation and deployment process.
Bombardier Transportation first implemented the Technomedia solution to a single division. The technology has since been extended throughout Bombardier Transportation in addition to Bombardier Inc. Today, Bombardier Transportation can effectively manage and align competencies and training together for better business results.
