Statement of Intracommunity Services, Cegid integrates a dedicated function into its enterprise applications

To deal with increasing trade globalization and deregulation, the French tax authority has implemented a new measure, the Statement of Intracommunity Services ("Déclaration européenne de services" or "DES"), for VAT on cross-border services within the European Union. Applicable from January 1, 2010, the measure applies to all companies providing services to customers located in other European Union member states. The statement is monthly and applies to all services for which the identified beneficiary in the other state uses the reverse charge procedure. It must be submitted no later than the 10th business day of the month following the VAT payment date.

The statement must be submitted electronically¹ via the "DES" teleservice, operational since January 25, 2010 and available on the "Prodouane" customs portal. This service includes a simulation module and can be used to archive statements. If offers two ways of transmitting information: online input or uploading of private files in XML format.

To facilitate and accelerate compliance with this new requirement , Cegid has integrated a dedicated function into its Sales Management, Contract Management and Production Management applications.

This function enables customers not only to generate an XML file automatically, but also to produce a paper copy of the statement in the format and with the content required by law. The XML file generated by Cegid applications can then be uploaded directly onto the customs service's web site. This function will be a standard feature of major new versions of Cegid applications and has also been integrated into 2007 and 2008 versions for all of Cegid's ERP customers.
