Corporate value-added tax. Cegid Etafi offers a natural response to this new obligation

Cegid has launched a new option, fully integrated into Etafi*, to handle the new tax companies must pay on the value-added they generate in a simple and secure manner.

Central to this new requirement is the exchange of information between companies and the tax authority in paperless form. Cegid has responded by enabling companies to file on line through its fully secure and automated Etafi.fr portal.

Intended as a partial substitute for the business license tax (taxe professionnelle), this new local tax on value-added, known by its French acronym "CVAE", was created by the tax authority as part of the 2010 budget law. It applies to all companies reporting sales of more than €152,500 and must be declared no later than May 4, 2010**.

For companies reporting sales in excess of €500,000 this new tax can be paid exclusively on line, illustrating the French government's desire to make paperless tax returns the norm in France.

Cegid customers can now use Etafi, the market leader in tax declarations and financial publications, to produce the CVAE declaration and pay the tax on line via the Etafi.fr submission portal, a quick and simple way of applying this new filing method.

The CVAE option guides the user through the input procedure or imports information automatically into Form 1330, verifies consistency, and generates the declaration in EDI (electronic data interchange) format. The Etafi.fr portal enables the customer to transmit the declaration to the tax authority using a simple internet connection and provides a truly interactive service: it tracks filings, adheres to legal deadlines, analyzes tax authority reports and manages reminders.

* CVAE is available as an option with Cegid Etafi, Profin and Editaxe.
** The grace period generally granted to companies for online submission of their tax returns will be applied to the CVAE, effectively extending the deadline to May 19.
